The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is usually
an eight semester program that provides students with the
intensive professional-level preparation necessary to become
practicing interior designers. This course of study engages
students with basic and advanced components of design, and
it generally provides an introduction into more specialized
areas of this career field. In most programs, students will
study all aspects of interior design, including computer-aided
drafting, textile design, and kitchen and bath design. If
students couple this type of degree program with internships
and professional experience, the curriculum satisfies the
formal educational requirements for membership in national
and local interior design associations. Earning your Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree also allows you to sit for the qualifying
exams for interior design certification in many states.
